The Last 15 Seconds Tours Again in 2012
We`re gearing up for a tour of our acclaimed, powerful play, The Last 15 Seconds. It takes the main stage at Edmonton’s Canoe Theatre Festival starting Jan. 17, followed by dates this month and next in Mississauga, London, and Burlington.
We`re honoured that the play is now being studied by theatre students at universities across the country as professors recognize the MT Space as a vital part of Canada’s contemporary theatre scene.
This is an emerging story about more than just a successful play—it`s an artistic creation supported by its local community here in Kitchener as well as received warmly by audiences across Canada and in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. It’s a story about a continued innovation coming out of an incredibly innovative region.
It all started with a simple, curious question posed in the face of a tragic event.
What happens when a suicide bomber meets and gets to know his victims? Or when his victims get to know the troubled youth who blew himself up to kill them?
Majdi Bou-Matar and the creative ensemble asked themselves these questions, threw themselves at and through the difficult messages and emotional minefields surrounding terrorism and middle east foreign policies.
The result is the now highly-respected play, The Last 15 Seconds, that opens in Edmonton on Jan. 17, 2012, as part of the Canoe Theatre Festival, and then moves on to perform in Mississauga, Burlington and London. Tour Dates and Times here.
For once, the terrorists aren’t all played by Arabs with thick accents, and no one’s motivations are black and white. The MT Space is riding a wave of critical success in the contemporary Canadian theatre scene.
We look forward to bringing our unique performances to audiences across this the country and around the world.
Hope 2012 treats you well. We’ll keep you posted as the MT Space’s story continues to be written.
