    CAFKA 2005 Collaboration & Inspiration

    As part of Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area (CAFKA) 2005 - x industria.

    The MT Space presents an experimental series of improvised pieces of theatrical motion-activity derived from encounters with the art projects at the Forum. Through theatrical motion, the art projects become unconventional performance spaces as the performers explore relationships between the physical structures of the works and the performers' emotional impulses triggered by these structures.

    Ocean in Spring, a concert featuring Bonchiku Y. Hoshi and Mariette Stephenson, will combine the Japanese Shakuhachi bamboo flute and the classical guitar.

    The concert will take place Friday, September 23 at 8 pm in the Canada Room at the Record, 160 King St. S.

  • Performance | Three-Legged Horse 26.5.2005

    Three-Legged Horse examines the final years of Russia's most prolific ballet dancer of the early twentieth century; Vaslav Nijinsky. Watch as Nijinsky falls from celebrity into schizophrenic self-professed martyrdom. Experience his struggle to preserve his identity amidst a clamorous public demanding for the return of "the god of the dance." Three-Legged Horse is the culmination of three rounds of theatre workshops since July of 2004 and is The MT Space's first offering to the community of original work.

    Poetry by Boleslaw Czernewcan

    Release of new book, "From Poland to Canada : In Broken English" by Boleslaw Czernewcan, readings by the author in both Polish and English, and multimedia presentation by Tracy Whelan, video artist.

    Boleslaw Czernewcan is a Polish-Canadian poet living in the Waterloo Region. "From Poland to Canada " is his third book.

    In cooperation with the K-W Multicultural Centre, The MT Space has been awarded a renovation grant from the Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation. Through this award, we will create a versatile space that will be accessible to a multitude of arts disciplines and artists. We are grateful to the Kitchener & Waterloo Community Foundation for supporting this project and making a significant stride towards the development of the multicultural arts sector.     We would like to hear your story

    The MT Space (Multicultural Theatre Space) is now actively searching for stories that relate to immigration and emigration. You can tell your story in any language. Stories could be a biography, a humorous story, a dramatic story, a romantic story, a script, a monologue or in some other form. Stories should be under 2500 words in length (5 pages or less). If you are not comfortable writing, contact us and we will interview you and record your story.
